As we age, our face begins to lose collagen, elastin and subcutaneous fat, consequently progressive changes are noticed in the form of sagging facial features and loss of volume which over time leads to the formation of lines, wrinkles and folds. The loss of volume also creates areas of flatness and ‘hollows’ that produce a ‘tired’ and ‘aged’ appearance.
The initial sign of aging is noticed in 8 distinct areas:
1 & 2. Cheek structure – The youthful volume and definition in cheeks are progressively lost over time.
3. Tear troughs – Over time, loss of volume in the tear trough area leads to formation of a hollow depression, producing a tired appearance.
4. Nasolabial folds – These lines that run from the corner of our nose to our mouth, gradually deepen as we lose the soft issue volume in our face
5. Mouth frown – Over time the corners of our lips begin to turn down and become more pronounced.
6. Pre-jowl area – Downward movement of soft tissue volume on the face due to loss of collagen and elastin leads to slowly appearance of Jowls, hence giving the face a heavy look.
7. Jawline – The jawline is a smooth line extending from our jaw to our chin which over time loses its definition.
8. Cheek volume – As we age, loss of volume in the mid-face area can make our cheeks look hollow.
In the past, the only method available to address the above concerns would have been a surgical face lift. However, one of the more recent advances involves the use of High quality dermal fillers from Restylane and Juvéderm, to restore volume to the face using advanced precise technique for total rejuvenation. This procedure is the non-surgical 8 Point Facelift, also reffered to as the “8 Point Approach” or “Liquid Facelift”.
In the 8 point facelift the 8 disctinct areas of aging on the face are identified and treated. It enhances the natural beauty of ones facial features where the youthful soft tissue under the skin has been lost. Replacing the lost volume from these 8 key points can produce a rejuvenated and refreshed look.
The 8 Point facelift offers a more complete anti-aging solution compared to individual dermal filler treatments. Using dermal fillers in this way has its origins in the work of the Brazilian Plastic Surgeon Dr Mauricio De Maio whose method is now revolutionising the non-surgical facelift with no need for downtime, producing results that are natural, add volume and restore youthful facial curves that provide a healthy, rejuvenated apprearance at any age.
The procedure including consultation takes approximately 45-60 minutes. Following a thorough consultation and examination of your face, the areas of concern will be discussed and prepared for treatment.
As with all injectable filler procedures, some discomfort is inevitable, however, topical anaesthetic will be applied to prevent any discomfort.
Following the procedure there is minimal to no recovery or downtime. With the technique used by our experienced Doctors, there should be very little or no bruising and most people are able to return to work and social activities the very next day. Any minor bruising could be camouflaged with makeup.
For the first 24 hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in order to help minimize the risks of temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the treatment sites.
How long will the results of your 8 Point Facelift last?
You should see an immediate improvement, however, the full benefits are visible after 1-2 weeks and the results keep improving within 2-3 months as the filler gradually settles in place. The results are expected to last between 9-18 months, however this very much depends on the individual.
Combination of treatments
To further enhance the rejuvenating effect and to maintain and prolong the results of 8 Point Facelift, the procedure can safely be combined with BOTOX injection Line & Wrinkle Smoothing, Laser Skin Rejuvenation and “Vampire” Skin Rejuvenation (PRP)
All your options will be discussed during your consultation.
